    Turning Point is currently seeking part-time Outpatient Counselors (25 hours per week) that hold the LSW, LPC or LCADC credential for our Daytime IOP in Paterson and Verona Outpatient.  In our Verona location, one evening per week is required on either Monday, Tuesday or Thursday.  In this part-time position, the Counselor will be responsible for screening clients to determine clinical appropriateness for admission, funding eligibility, and perform the admission. Alongside managing the admission, ensuring timely processing of all clients and resolving any pending issues that arise on day of admission.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

     

    COORDINATE/PERFORM ADMISSION PROCESS:

    Manage the flow of the client admission process from reception through admission

    Complete paperwork and prepare chart for incoming clients

    Screen clients and determine appropriateness of admission based on DSM, ASAM, and agency criteria

    Assist referrals for client when admission is denied

    Assist team with tasks when needed or when requested by supervisor

    Provide updates and communication to family/referral sources in lobby and over the phone

    Provide any training that new team members need

    Monitor team members' participation to ensure the training provided is being put into use, and also to see if any additional training is needed

    Cultivate an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effor

    Meet with referral agents when appropriate

    Attend staff meetings.

    Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

     

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • LCADC,LSW, LPC, Preferred
    • Bachelors in human health related field
    • Master’s Degree preferred in Social Work or Psychology
    • Knowledge of chemical dependence and 12 Step programs
    • If recovering alcoholic/addict, no history or evidence of alcohol or other drug use for four years
    • Computer literate preferred
    • Knowledge of ASAMS and NJSAMS strongly preferred
